WINTER ESSENTIALS

It’s getting coooold. My skin is chapped, my hair is dry, and my lips are a wintery shade of flaky pale (hot stuff, I tell you). In the winter time, as the temperatures drop and the air changes, I need a change in my routine as well.  Creams get thicker, lip balms get more intense, and I find myself concentrating more on my skin care and less on my makeup.  Below are some of my favorite things to keep my skin dewy and hair shiny, even though the weather would rather suck the life out of me!

kiehls-creme-de-corps-soy-milk-and-honey-whipped-body-butter1040do071011Kieh’s Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter – There’s a reason why this stuff is a best seller.  It’s thick, rich formula leaves your skin buttery soft and the scent is heavenly.

eve-lom-kiss-mix

Kiss Mix by Eve Lom – This super moisturizing lip balm leaves a subtle sheen on your lips and is perfect on it’s own and leaves lips crack free when topped with a bold lipstick.

121124_fpx.tifLaura Mercier Créme Brûlée Honey Bath – I take more baths in the winter time and this creme smells so amazing and leaves my skin super soft.

goldlust-masque-large

Oribe Gold Lust Transformative Masque – This hair mask might be on the pricey side but it definitely delivers results. After leaving it on my hair for 5 minutes, I’m left with soft, shiny, bouncy hair.
s381145-main-LheroBliss High Intensity Hand Cream – Did I mention I’m a hand model as well?  No joke – I am a child-size hand model (random, I know!) and keeping my hands smooth and crack free is a must.  This cream is super moisturizing but doesn’t leave me with butter-fingers.
30ml_beautifyingfaceoilTata Harper Beautifying Face Oil – I wish I had a big enough wallet to try all her amazing 100% natural products.  This fast absorbing face oil works for any skin type – even mine, which is combination and prone to break outs.

PRODUCTS FOR THE PREGGO (Round 2)

In honor of my pregnant sister (I’m going to be aunt in January!), I’m doing another round of pregnancy safe and must needed beauty bag essentials for the expecting or breastfeeding lady.  A lot of products are no-no’s when you have a bun in the oven, since topical treatments can seep into your blood stream.  So if you’re pregnant and wondering what to use, or you just need gift ideas for your pregnant friend, here are some great products that are safe, and make those last few months just a little easier.

Josie-Maran-Moisturizer-SPF-47-April-2014

Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47
Sunscreen is a must for everyone, but is especially important for pregnancy since many people suffer from melasma (like me!).  This natural, moisturizer/sunscreen combo eliminates an extra step in the morning and has a high SPF of 47.  Even though we are heading into winter, don’t skip the SPF!

5ml_aromaticirritability
Tata Harper Aromatic Irritability Treatment
The name says it all.  Being pregnant does give you the right to be more irritable and fussy, but why not try and combat it with some all natural aromatherapy?  Toss in your bag and use when you’re having to wait in line at the doctor’s office, or your husband forgot that much needed fro-yo.

organic_pharmacy_bilberry_creamThe Organic Pharmacy Bilberry Complex Cream
If swollen hands and feet have you feeling like a sausage, try massaging in this cream, which aids in circulation and helps fight tired feet and legs.

By now you all know how much I like facial sprays.  This completely safe mist gives skin a hydrating boost and is super handy for those midday hot flashes.

Belli Acne Control Spot Treatment
If you’re one of the lucky ones to experience radiant, glowing skin when they’re pregnant, well then good for you.  But if you’re one of the gals that got hit by hormonal acne like I did, having a product that you can use to treat pesky pimples is a godsend. Most acne treatments are harsh and iffy for the pregnant folk, but this line of products is specifically designed for moms to be.
